Monday Run 6 Km, 33:37 Mins

New shoes... again. I don't want to talk about it. I am not going to lose my left big toe nail... fingers crossed.

I felt great. I ran slower. It was hot and there were a lot of people out and about. Christian and I had already walked this route today and some of the same people were still sitting in the same spots enjoying the beach. It was a beach day for sure. Hopefully it will be nice like this tomorrow and Christian and I will bring the tent out to the beach! Fun summer times!

Saturday Run 20 Km, 1 H 55 Mins

DONE! That is all I have to say. This is the last run of this length before the race. It is time to taper and carb up. Hopefully the excitement of race day will make me run faster.

Friday 8:15 - 9:45 Bikram Cambie - Chelsea

I haven't taken an 8:15pm class in a long time. It was nice today because I had the best of two worlds. I got to be lazy all morning and ealry afternoon and then I was active for the rest of the day. I usually am active in the morning and chilling in the evening but this was a nice change.

I think maybe I could do this class doing the school year. I bathed Christian and got him ready for bed and Jonny took it from there. I'm home and in bed by ten. I am feeling kind of energized though- not very sleepy. Anywho - we will see.

On the way to yoges I stopped at the Running Room and got Gu and socks in preparation for my long run. I'm feeling positive.

Friday Run 8 Km, 40:34 Mins

I had a great run today. YAY! I am both dreading and looking forward to tomorrow's twenty. And when I say looking forward to.. that means looking forward to it being over.

Today I ran down the alley and to second beach pool and back. The sun was shining and there were lots of people out enjoying it. I saw one old guy swimming in the ocean. It looked so refreshing that I wanted to jump in myself. I feel lucky to live where I do... especially on days like today.

Wednesday Run 6.2 Km, 32:25 Mins

Today I tried something new for speed training. I tried Tabata training. This is eight, twenty second intervals with ten second breaks in between. I made a mix of music that gave me five minutes to warm-up then a Tabata track, another five minute run, and another Tabata track, and then music to run back.

This was hard but I can see how it works. I was out of breath and I was unable to complete all eight intervals. I missed the sixth one on the first track and the forth and seventh on the second. I took the extra time to breather.

I am going to add this into my work outs at school for the kids... not with running.. but with abs or push ups or something. It will be awesome. I was thinking of adding it into the normal warm-up but I think it should be something that we do once a week... not every day. It is draining and if you don't give it your all it is a waste of time. Whereas if you try your hardest you will gain great results.

Monday Run 6 Km, 30:20 Mins

My hamstring was hurting and impeding me the first kilometre and a half. After that I was able to move my legs faster. This is the speed I was running when I first started ... before I over did it. I really had to force myself to keep my legs moving this fast and it didn't seem as easy as it used to. I am looking forward to this race being over and running for again... and not as much! Almost done!!

Saturday Run 18 Km, 1H 45 Mins

I wanted to remember three things from my run... it is a few hours later... but let's see if I can remember them.

1. At Jherico there was an Asian family that had set up for a party. They had a tarp ready to go up and a table with a rice cooker. It was about ten in the morning and they had the best spot - close to the washrooms, on the grass, and the beach right there. I was thinking that this is what I want to do for my birthday next year. I want a family day at the beach. No fancy restaurant. A nice beach chill day. Weather permitting of course. It is too bad the boy's birthday is the end of November. It would be a good birthday party space for him too!!

2. I saw a dad changing a boy about one year old on the grass. He had just opened the diaper and it looked like he had had carrots... a lot of them! Gross. The loads we have to look forward to. Notice it was the dad changing the diaper.

3. My feet hurt. Blisters. I have to get running socks and gel for my water this week. I shouldn't have tried to pumice the calluses yet. Don't touch your feet until after the race.

When I got home I was so sore. I started off sore before from dance on Friday. I got out of the shower and laid on the bed and I could hardly get up. Next week I am going to move my run to Sunday. The race is on a Sunday so it will be better for my body to get used to running Sunday morning. That will also give me a day off between dance and running. The week of the race I won't take that Friday class at all.

20 km next week.. then taper.. then RACE! Almost done! I can't wait!! Then... no more challenges.. just enjoy life and dance, yoga, and run when I want!!
