Wednesday 5:59 -6:22 Skate E Spot (23 mins)

I was pooped today but we went for it because it was beautiful and sunny.

I did some ollies and then worked on my little line.

The boy walked all the way home along the water after having a skate.

I am going to try some fitness YouTubes during my spares till the end of the year and get some new ideas for my classes. Not worthy of a post each time but I will keep track and do one monthly post.

Tuesday, April 29, 2014 (International Dance Day)

  • There were two ab exercises on here that I couldn't even do! (hip flexor killers!) 
  • If you wanted to use it in class I would consider just doing the first half - it repeats all again with half the reps. 

Wednesday April 30, 2014 
  • I had to take breaks - this was a hard one - level 3 - going to do level 2 tomorrow
  • There are 50 reps of each exercise and it is 8 minutes long. I don't think my students would be able to do this one.  

Wednesday 6 - 7:15am Bikram Cambie- Roxana

I haven't been to Roxana's class in a while. I missed her.

I had another great class today. I did the lunge on my sore hip but didn't do the full triangle.

I almost forgot to leave after the spine strengthening. I stayed for the savasana and then was starting the next posture when I realized I had to go. I was into it. Friday I get to stay the whole class because it is Pro D and my first workshop starts at 8:30 - and I don't care if I am a bit late.

There was sun shining on me that was reflecting from the mirror. It is so nice to have the sun in the morning. Just another sign that summer is here!!

Monday 3:08 - 3:37 Skate E Spot (29mins)

YAY! I had my spare last block and ran out of school early and got to go skate with my boys. Jonny wasn't having a very good skate - he is having shoe issues again. (always) Time to get a new pair of shoes boi! He let the boy out for a skate while I was doing my line.

After our skate we let the boy keep walking with us until we got past the construction. Then we got him back in his stroller and tried to go for a walk -but the people…

I had a good skate - I look forward to this weekend when I can have double sessions again. I love me a good second session - all warmed up and ready to go.

Jonny also told me to make sure all my ollies are as big as they can be - good advice - don't want to get into bad habits.

I just added up my skate time total for this month 10 hours and 45 minutes - and I still have two days left! That is pretty good for a busy working girl like me :-)

Monday 6 - 7:15am Bikram Cambie - Ulrike

It felt awesome to be back at yoges this morning. I woke up a few minutes before my alarm well rested and ready to kill it. I felt strong today. I had an awesome class. I didn't do the full triangle on the left - I did do the lunge and hold the arms though. I wanted to do the whole class but I had to get to school. 

Sunday 3:59 - 4:38 Skate E Spot (39 mins)

Sunday morning we tried to go for a skate but E spot was being used for the sun run people. Instead we walked and looked a new skate spots and then walked around the C wall to our Vietnamese food spot - summer is officially here!

We went out again in the afternoon and got a good skate in. I did my ollies and then worked on my line: ollie, 180, fakie ollie. Jon told me to do another push before my fakie ollie but it is so awkward. Something to work towards.

I got an after school skate today. I did my ollies but I got the nervous leg when a cool pack of skaters went through. Then I worked on my little line. I could have skated longer.. but it was time to go! Soon.. summer!!

Thursday 6:11 - 6:37 Skate E Spot (26 mins)

We got an after school skate again today - yay! It was pick up your Sun Run bibs so there was more foot traffic going through our area. 

I did my ollies. My hip wasn't hurting. It is the first time I have felt that comfortable on the new board. I love the new board and shoes. After I warmed up I started to do my ollie, 180, fakie ollie line. Then the boy got too squirmy so we had to go. 

Jonny made a pretty awesome dinner tonight - it was a good family evening.

Tuesday 5:55 - 6:27 Skate E Spot (32 mins)

I was driving home in the beautiful sun and then I saw this ominous, huge cloud. It looked like it was raining over North Van. The closer I got to home the more it looked like I was driving into the cloud and I started to get upset that I had spend all day at work in the sun and was going home to the rain. But, I was wrong. There was still sun and we got a good little skate in.

I did one hundred 180's and then I started to put a line together doing one ollie and one 180.

Then the boy told us it was time…

but it was pleasant. I am lucky :-) 

Tuesday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Ulrike

I hadn't been to yoga in so long in felt like I didn't want to go this morning.. I didn't want to wake up and start moving. I wanted to stay with my family. But… here I am at school thrashing through my list and getting things done in this busy competition time. Here I go!

It was a good class. It was not too hot… I just missed the left hip triangle because I pinched it last night skating… but hey.. they have been a problem since the c-section.. I just need more strength to grow back there.

It was nice to get to stay the whole class this morning. I stopped at Subway and still got to school at the bell. No traffic today. You never know!

We didn't think we would get a skate in today… but we got our delivery from Point Roberts and then the sun came out and we got to go for a quick skate… before our nightly routine. I love my new board size and new shoes. Family skate!

When I first woke up this morning it was nice and bright. But as it came closer to skate time it started to rain and then it stopped and it dried a bit. We packed up in hopes there would be enough dry space to skate and there was. 

I did one hundred 180's again. This time I had more good ones than last time.

Saturday 8:56 - 9:44 Skate E Spot (40 mins)

This morning was grey but not raining so we went for it. I thought it was going to pour on us as soon as we got there but the sun peeked through a little bit.

I did my ollies and they were morning style. So, I started to focus on my 180's. I did a bunch and they weren't going too well so I decided to do one hundred of them. Most of them were crap and I wondered if I should only count the good ones.. but that would take forever.. so one hundred 180's and attempts were done. I was sweating by the end but feeling more confident. I am going to do that next time too. Quantity until quality.

Friday 9:08 - 9:38 and 2:30 - 3:11 Skate E spot and F spot (1H 11Mins)

This morning we skated E spot and I was slow to warm-up. My nano wasn't charged either so I was music less. I did ollies and slowly warmed up. The last ten minutes I did some slow 180's. I was feeling good by the end of my session. I let the boy out for a skate and squirm. He is doing some good but riding and he likes to hold my hand and walk around our perimeter.

This afternoon the BMX dude was doing his tricks at E spot so we backed up and hung out at F spot. I was sad at first and then I found some new fun. It is not as smooth there. There was a tiny transition I skated up and down and that was fun. I ollied between the bumpy lines but one day I wasn't to ollie over them.

The BMX dude left and we went to E spot where I continued to ollie my usual path - but really fast and confident. It felt so fun. I was super sweaty. I was going to start doing some 180's but the boy was ready for a squirm and I was pretty pooped so boy skate time.

Thursday 6 - 7:15am Bikram Cambie - Ulrike

It wasn't as busy today. Maybe some people are taking off early for the long weekend?

The class was the perfect temperature.

I didn't do the first set of triangle and the second set I just did the lunge. I am letting my hips rest and hopefully next week I will add it back in.

My mind thought constantly about the school accounts. I am trying to let three students who can't pay for Kelowna go on the trip. I went through the money and worked it out and we will have $82.50 left. But, what if something goes over. I haven't bought awards or bursaries yet. That means no Bikram yoga field trip - or any other field trips. AND, I still need to get Latisha's hoodie printed. I could not bring the extra two supervisors - that would save $300 - for the hotel. But, I already said they could go and it is good to have helpers - one room on each floor. Or, those three just don't come. That saves $375. But, it is their last year… I will talk to them today… and figure it out.

Tuesday 6 - 7:!5am Bikram Cambie - Ulrike

There were so many men in class today. I literally looked in the mirror and all other bodies around me were men. There was the old guy in the flowered ladies shorts, the old guy in the purple shorts, the guy with the spiky hair that makes noises upon exertion, the south east Asian dude with the bun in his hair, and more.. that is all I can remember. It was weird. It made me think of Charlie doing yoga. Imagine if just showed up one day at 6am in my class. That would be funny. He says it is really helping his sore back - I really believe it is the best thing for ya… (even Jonny does it at home on his own… except he calls it stretching.)

I had a pretty good class. One of the other old guys from the other side of the room told Ulrike to hold the door open - he was dying. hahaha.. but I was right by the door so that was nice. I was ok though. I didn't do any triangles because my hips were killing me last night. They are feeling a bit better today.

Anywho - I have got to do report cards now!!

Monday 4:29 - 5:04 Skate E Spot (35 minutes)

I did my ollie path again but it took me a whole half hour to get into it. I had a lot of fumbles. I started to do some 180's and there were a couple of good ones but I have lost something there. I need a double session or a longer session to get those going again.

It was nice to come home right after school and have a skate. It is less rushed and more relaxing. I look forward to having more free time soon.. SUMMER!

Sunday 9:30 - 9:53 and 1:53 - 2:34) Skate E Spot (1 hour and 4 minutes)

I did my ollies along the path and was going to start 180's but the boy needed a squirm. The boy is getting better at staying in bounds.

Afternoon skate was so nice and sunny and sweaty. I skated my usual ollie path and then I turned and did some ollie loops. I was going fast and it was fun. The Smashing Pumpkins were screeching in my ears and making me go faster. It was a good warm up. Then I took my music out and socialized with my boys as I worked on my 180's. I wasn't really feeling those today so I worked on some manuals. Jonny gave me some pointers and I was able to get them a little better. Nothing was as fun as the fast ollies though.

Saturday 5:05 - 5:38 Skate E Spot (33 minutes)

We are having an awesome weekend! We went for a quick swim and then had a little rest and then went for a skate. Jonny got in a full hour! The boy and I each got a half hour of fun. I did about twenty minutes of ollies on that same path I have been working on. I did some awesome ollies. I can really feel the back end getting up and I am going faster. It is fun. Then I did about ten minutes of 180's. Jonny encouraged me to try different foot positions but I feel comfortable where my feet are… but I do understand what he is saying. I had a few good ones and a lot of bad ones today. Not a 180 day.

Either way - I had the best class of the week. My right hip is a little better but I didn't go all the way down in the right triangle. I did stay standing and do the lunge. I can't remember what I was thinking about today - I was more focused.

Wednesday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Mari

I was super sleepy this morning. I did not expect my alarm to go off when it did. I dragged myself to yoga dreading it because of the last horrible class. It wasn't that bad today though. The heat was normal but not too hot. Mari seemed to be monitoring it well. She did seem to blast it right at the start of the balancing series and then she put it back. I missed the left triangle because that hip is hurting.. still.. again? (but not too bad - and that right back sore spot - I can hardly feel that now.. )

I was so tired that I tried to drift off into my thoughts instead of thinking about the yoga. (and I tried not to toot - Jonny made tootaghetti last night) I had a book idea about five years ago and the ending popped into my head. I thought a lot about Kelowna and what male I can get to come with me to be a chaperone. And.. maybe having to cancel one of the hotel rooms… just dealing with all of that in my head took up half the class.. at least and I still don't have it figured out. Anywho!!!

It was an ok class and it is done. One more this week… and hey.. after Kelowna I have more free time. I just have to get through not seeing my son for two two nights. :-(

Tuesday 6:05 - 6:28 Skate E Spot (23 minutes)

I thought I got a half hour but I forgot I had a snack when Jonny started skating and then I let the boy skate for a bit.

I worked on the same ollie path I was doing the last time. I was super tired from my long day… but there aren't that many long days left.

Unfortunately I brought up Kelowna - cause I was thinking that after Kelowna is over I will have more free time after school because that is our last competition. I have released Jonny of his duties and he will no longer be bringing the boy and coming to Kelowna with me. He really didn't want to go so why should I force him? Kelowna tried to ruin the rest of my evening but I wouldn't let it. But man… do I wish I hadn't accidentally said Kelowna.

Monday 4:41 - 5:13 Skate E Spot (32 minutes)

We got to go for an after school skate. I put my music on and practiced the same ollie path as yesterday until I got super sweaty and then I worked on some 180's.

Monday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Ulrike

Mom and dad came out yesterday to see the boy. They brought us out to The Keg and I had a few (3!) beers. It was very exciting because we hardly drink anymore but it destroyed my sleeping. I was so anxious all night that I was going to feel too sick to go to yoga in the morning that I didn't sleep well. I kept checking the clock and not sleeping. I was too hot, then too cold.. then Jonny's bony knee would poke me - he wasn't sleeping that well either… then he would steal the blanket and I would pull it back.. it was just one of those nights.

BUT, I got up and went to yoga. I figured I would feel better if I went than if I didn't and felt guilty. BUT, I paid my dues. There is definitely no beer left in me now. What I didn't pee out last night I sweat out this morning. It was a hot and horrible class…. but I did it. I was too tired to try too hard and I didn't do it all - but I stayed in that hot room paying my dues for my beer sins!

haha - Wednesday will be better :-)

Sunday 9:03 - 9:37 and 1:08 - 1:39 Skate E Spot (1 hour!)

We had two sessions Sunday. I skated with music today - Jonny's WifeRUNmixSEVEN. I had a great skate day. The first session I just ollied. There were a lot of puddles still from the rain Saturday. I found a line through them and went back and forth doing two ollies over lines each way. I did that for a half hour straight. I didn't do anything else. I was so sweaty. My ollies were feeling higher and more confident.

During the second session there were no more puddles. It was all nice and dry. I had more space to play but I went back to that line and did more ollies. Then I tried to do ollie and on the second line a 180 but I go too fast for my ollies and I still like to slow down for the 180's - so that didn't work. So, I went close to the boy and just worked on slow 180's. I had more 180's coming around and rolling out.

It was a good day!

Saturday 9:21 - 9:49am Skate E Spot (28 Minutes)

It was a a beautiful morning with the sun shining when we first got to the spot. I did a lot of ollies and then a lot of 180's. The boy got to skate and walk around and then we went to Coopers and the boy got to go to the playground. That is when it was grey and started to rain. It has been raining all day since. But at least we were up early enough to get some of that sun!

Wednesday 6:33 - 7:02 Skate E Spot (29 minutes)

We got to go for another after dinner skate today. (We went yesterday too but I was too pooped to do anything but walk there and watch the boy skate and walk around) Today, I had a good half hour. I started off just cruising around and then I did a bunch of ollies and then I did a bunch of 180's.

Jonny has overused either his groin or hip flexor - so he had to rest and watch me and chill with the boy. He is icing and resting now. Hopefully he can still get another skate in in the morning before it rains… who knows.. maybe he should just rest! Maybe a good night sleep will do it - fingers crossed.

I also did some fakie ollies, shuvits, and I flipped my board around for fun. I was having a good time and Jonny was giving me some good pointers. Thanks my love!

Tuesday 6 - 7:15am Bikram Cambie - Mari

I had a better class than yesterday because it wasn't as hot but it still wasn't as good as a non-6am class. I shouldn't have done those classes. Now I just compare the two in my head at 6am. Anywho - I had four good 6ams before the break - I will have some good 6ams again.

It is a beautiful day and I already can't wait to be home with my boys.
