Saturday Run 14 Km, 1:16 Mins

It is sunny again! WOO HOO!

This morning I didn't wear my running jacket so I decided it was time to pull out my water bottle hip pack. I know, I know.. such a nerd.. but it holds my runpod, my keys, and water. It is nice to have water on long runs and it is good practice for race day. I don't really feel comfortable wearing it until I get a little sweaty and everything sticks in place... which for me.. isn't that long.

I ran straight to SP and down Bridle to Prospect Point. I turned around when I heard my walk song and then realized it was time to walk not turn around. So, I turned around and walked. Then I turned around when I heard the run song, and had to turn around again and keep running. Then, it said halfway and I got to turn around for real. I was really eager to be halfway. haha..

I had a good run. All the other runners were happy. Everyone is enjoying the sunshine. I gotta make a new mix for next Saturday. Fourteen kilometres didn't seem that much longer than twelve.

Time to eat! (Thanks Jonny!)

Friday 6:15 - 7:45 Bikram Cambie - Jacob

Jonny got home and I raced out the door. I made it to class just in time. Luckily it is a holiday today so the 6:15 wasn't as busy as a normal 6:15. It was super hot in the class. I am still sweating now and I have already showered.

I had a great class. I am having problems with floor bow. I can feel stuff in my tummy just isn't in the right place yet so I don't push it. I am still not doing the sit ups. Everything else is pretty good. I am happy.

Too sweaty to write more!

Friday Run 6 km, 29:45 Mins

I didn't feel like I was running fast today but I ran a minute faster than Monday - when I ran fast. A minute faster! That is pretty awesome. I wonder if I could run another minute faster?

Today is the first day I was too warm in my jacket and I peeled it off and tied it around my waist a km into my run. It is so nice out. I hope it stays this nice... till October! hahaha!

I ran around Science World to the False Creek sign and back. Jonny and the boy were cock blocked by three fitness moms by the time I got back. They were doing some really strange movements that probably should have been done somewhere more private. How they know just how to set up right where my husband is skating ... is beyond me. Wouldn't you look around before you set up? Anywho... what can you do?

Wednesday 5:30- 6:30 Hip Hop - JP

Amanda was taking Christina's class and she came and said hi to me when I was signing in. I can't believe she is graduating this year and headed to SFU next. She is such a cute kid! It was awesome to see her. I miss my students.

JP didn't do a warm-up today because he had a lot to teach and I got it all. I missed last week and he had taught some of it last week. I just had to focus. (Thanks Jonny)

I stood on the other side of the room because my usual spot was taken. That usually throws me off a bit but I was focussed.

JP did another JT song. I knew he was going to and I was ready for him. I downloaded the album and have been running with it the last two runs. It makes it easier if you know the song. (And I could hear the song because I had my ears in.)

Great class. I will miss it next week.. and maybe the next.. dad's birthday... not sure what is going on there.. but something!

Wednesday Run 6 km, 31:33 Mins

I felt sluggish today. I was full of juice and toast. The first half of my run I felt like I was dragging my feet. It is weird because it is sunny out and that usually makes me happy and fast. I felt myself pick up the last half. That felt good. I didn't try to force myself to go faster either. I just ran.

On my way back by Sunset beach there was a super, fast, running granny that passed me. She was had short grey bobbed hair under a hat, a blue long sleeve running top, and black capri leggings. I heard her behind me and I looked back and she passed me with such ease and grace. She was beautiful and strong. I hope to be like her when I am her age.

I finished my run to Jonny skating a line right into me. He was looking good out there riding around with no fitness mama's or film crews cramping his style. (Just a boy!)

Tuesday 5:30-6:30 Street Jazz - Jo

I haven't been to Jo's class since I was pregnant. I haven't been to dance in a while because of my foot... and it was still hurting today but I had to get back at it and I am glad that I did. It is a nice spring day. I like dancing in the sun. I got the choreo.. I feel like an old loser around all those kids in their fancy saggy but pants - but I had a good class. I think I will take this class again next week. It is good to switch it up!

Monday Run 6 Km, 30:43 Mins

Whew!! I was FAST today! What a busy morning. I had a grumple section where I thought Jonny was going to be meeting me outside of our building but was actually at swimming. Meanwhile, I had to run up and get all the stuff and a bottle and then I couldn't find them. It made me so angry. But, the boy and the pool made me happy again.

This morning I ran from Pit spot around Science World, past Monks to an info sign that I looped and ran back the same way. I set the Run Pod for 6km. I can't believe I ran that fast! It didn't feel like I was running faster. I am stoked on that. My goal is to run the half marathon in 1:45. The last time I ran a half I ran 1:54 .. I think. So... shaving that much time off is a lofty goal but this is an easier route from what I have heard. It is good to have goals!

Sunday 10-11:30 Bikram Cambie - Cedric

Wow - I did not enjoy this class and I will check the schedule from now on to make sure that Cedric is not teaching the class that I plan to go to. I have had Cedric before when he was a new teacher back at the old Cambie studio. The complaints I have are similar to those I had back in 2006. He has no rhythm or flow to his class. He wants to be the mind that controls our bodies but sometimes he gives instructions and other times he babbles trying to invoke motivation. He seems to be trying to be like Danny but he can't pull it off. He isn't believable. For the first half of the class he was sitting on the stool holding his knees all hunched over. You want us to stand tall and push, push, push, but you aren't leading by example. I will say his class did get better once we got to the floor and he stood up and started teaching while he was moving around. His flow improved. Or else he checked the time and realized he is going to go over... again.

I left the class feeling like the class took forever and I was deflated instead of feeling like the class went really quick and feeling awesome. I have really enjoyed Christine and Michelle's classes lately. I appreciate their flow and rhythm. I will seek them out in the schedule when I can. I hope that Cedric just learns to be himself in class instead of trying to act like another teacher. And I think he should stand and walk around when he is teaching because it does seem to improve his rhythm somewhat. But. I don't plan on taking his classes if I can avoid it.

Saturday Run 12 Km, 1:06 Mins

Last night the boy slept one long stretch till 5am but that was it. He was awake and so were we. Jonny and I took turns having naps but the whole ordeal left me not wanting to run and a little grumpy. I knew I would be better once I got outside but I almost had to be kicked out! Anywho, it was a nice sunny run. The first part of my run was the same as last Saturday. This time I turned at the overpass and went across to Beaver lake. I turned at the halfway point and followed the same path back.

I saw lots of families in the park. Mom and kids on bikes. We are so lucky to live in a city that has this amazing park. I can't wait to take the boy on bike rides through the park.

I made a run mix before I left. I didn't put a lot of time in it and I had the boy sitting on my lap as I was making part of it. Needless to say one track sounded more quiet than the other. I made it so I ran for 11 or 12 minutes and walked for 1. I didn't take the time to try and find songs that fit into this time frame so I would walk and then have the end of the song. It isn't my favourite mix but it did the trick. I look forward to Jonny making me a new mix!

I got new tape for my feet and no blisters! I guess I won with the cheap shoes. Take that!

Friday Run 5.4 Km, 28:16 Mins

I ran through rain and then I got to the other side of False Creek and it was sunny. I ran past Monks and up to Crystal's dog walk area and back around and over the Cambie bridge. This route was about two minutes too short. Oh well. Jonny and the boy were skating but the work out ladies were in their way. We are going to have to go earlier on Fridays.

Thursday 6:15-5:45 Bikram Cambie - Danny

The 6:15 is always packed. Today was no different. I had the most annoying girl next to me. No exaggeration, she kept picking her toes and did not move with the class. She just kept sitting and picking her toes. It was so gross! I tried to block her out but her not trying energy was annoying. I tried to focus on the lady in front of me. She was doing awesome... but toe picker kept grossing me out. (Not that I have any sort of nice toes... but toe picking is a private sort of thing)

I didn't do the triangle. I had some awful painful wart torture yesterday and that position is really uncomfortable on my foot. Right before triangle some guy had a seizure....or panic attack... or something. He had to leave the room and they assured us later he was ok. Scary!

The boy is on my lap right now helping me write my blog. LOVE HIM!

Wednesday Run 5.9 Km, 30:53

It was pouring out when I went for my run. I started running as soon as I got out the door. I ran down the alley and out to the C wall around the Inukshuk (sp?) and back home. There wasn't another running There were some dog walkers. There was one old man out walking with an umbrella and a cane and he gave me a good smile. He was happy to be out. I saw the sun in the distance and I knew it was coming. It is gorgeous now. But, my run is done!

When I walked in the door the boy was screaming. He had been unhappy the whole time I was gone. I had to lull him while I was all sweaty and wet. It was a stressful return. But, we made it to swimming and he had some good swims. I think the teeth are pushing through.

Tuesday 4:15-5:45 Bikram - Christine P

My little thumb sucker!
When I walked in there were four people standing at the front desk smiling. One of them was Michelle and she said, "Hello Paula." She said this before I scanned my card. She really does know my name. She must stand there and learn people's names. That is cool. I like that. I feel special.

Jonny made some fish sticks right before yoga and I had a couple even though I know I shouldn't eat right before and that this class was going to be difficult as it was because I was tired. I burped them up a couple of times but I kept on trucking and didn't miss anything... but I won't be doing that again. They just smelled so good!

I didn't have a good sleep the last two nights and I was thinking of not going to yoges today but I am glad I did. I feel better now and if I hadn't have done it I would have the guilt. As it is now, I feel better having worked all my muscles and sweat out any toxins left in me from St. Patty's Day.

Saturday Run 12 Km, 1:06 Mins

I ran straight to the third beach pool and up to Bridle trail. I followed it two kilometres in which is all the way up the hill and back down a hill. That was 6km and the runpod said halfway so I turned and ran back.

It was cloudy but not raining.

I can't remember what else I was going to write. I missed Carrie today.

Oh - I know what I was going to write about... duct tape! I was reading online about different ways to tape your feet for running and I found out that you could use duct tape. My duct tape is from the dollar store though so I think that is why it didn't really work. It didn't stay stuck to my feet once it got sweaty. I am going to have to get some real medical tape and try again next long run. Ok .. that is all!

Friday Run 6.3 Km, 32:59 Mins

No rain today... yet! Jonny and Christian went for a skate and I ran the opposite way - the Yaletown side to the rings and back.

There are a group of golden oldies on bikes that ride around the C wall around this time. I saw them on Wednesday by Science World. There were more of them then. Maybe they pick up more people as they go around. Or maybe Wednesdays are just more popular. I will be keeping my eye for them though.

They are cutting the brambles down around the dog beach under the Burrard street bridge. I think that will nice. I think some people will miss the berries in berry season. I bet they will find some nasty stuff in those bushes.

I got some good smiles and runner's nods today. People aren't being as snotty as usual. Maybe they were from somewhere else.

I got back to the boy and Jonny and there was a woman staring at her phone while pushing her two kids on the swings. One little boy was wearing red skinny jeans and gold shoes! She had fake blonde hair. She was missing good kid moments while she was looking at her phone. I want to make a conscious effort not to be that parent. I was thinking, some of the only times I don't look at my phone are when I am sleeping, at yoga, dance, or running. What weird days we live in.

Thursday 4:15-5:45 Bikram Cambie- Michelle

I have had this teacher before... but where? North Van? I have to look it up now. I found one post from February 24, 2012 - West End. I only had her once? She knew my name somehow. She wasn't at the front desk when I signed in. Hmmm, anywho... it was an awesome class. It was cooler today because the heat was broken in the morning which made it easier to hold all the poses and to breathe. Sometimes it is a nice change to not be so hot. I was still soaking wet sweaty.

Michelle gave awesome corrections for everyone. She did about three demonstrations and was very clear about technique. After she did a demo and explanation everyone seemed to try harder for her. She has a distinctive rhythm to words and she wears some interesting high-waisted yoga shorts. I look forward to taking her class again.

In the change room I was beside Christine. She was going to teach next. I like her too and it was nice of her to talk with me. Although there was an awkward moment where I either didn't hear her or she didn't understand what I said. But it was brushed off with a smile and have a good class.

On the rainy drive home I saw one of the North Van twins walking with a big umbrella. We both gave big smiley waves. I will never be able to tell those two apart. I think it was Gordon though.

Wednesday 5:30-6:30 Hip Hop - JP

It is raining hard now. I walked fast all hooded up to Harbour. I got it today. The whole class looked good and together. It is week one of this choreo. I think he will do this one again next week and I look forward to it. I think my brain is getting better at picking up choreo now that I am getting more sleep!

Wednesday Run 5.6 Km, 29:45 Mins

It was just drizzling when we left the house. Jonny covered his skateboard with a plastic bag. There was a section of the park that was dry so the boy and Jonny skated and I set off for my run. I ran around Science World but instead of doing two complete loops I decided to run until the runpod said halfway and then turn around go back the way I came. (That way I could avoid the bridge and its stairs! ) I made it to Monks and turned around. This is when the rain started to really come down. I raced the last minute and as you can see I stopped 15 seconds early because I was there too fast and my legs were burning.

The rain stopped pouring and was just drizzling again. We walked back home and I quickly changed and we went swimming. They boy did awesome swimming today. His back floating was especially good.

Tuesday 4:15-5:45 Bikram - Laurie M

P is for productive and man was I ever productive today. It feels good! I won't go through all the things I crossed off my list but I have an awesome sense of accomplishment today. Love it.

Today I was able to do all of the spine strengthening and the front savasanas because my boobs are back to normalish! YAY! Locust was so hard since I haven't done it since before I was pregnant. I struggled to get both legs up.

Laurie corrected my hand grip on wind removing pose. Someone told me to do it the way I was doing it another time and she does it a different way so I did it her way. Whatever. I thanked her. I like corrections - it means she is trying to make me better. I like it better than no corrections. Boring - stay the same.

I didn't do the sit ups.

When I got home, Jonny had salad ready and it was delicious. What a good hubby I got!

Monday 4-5 Hip Hop - Stu

Today there was no warm-up. Stu taught the end to a dance he did last week and then a beginning. So, the middle part I didn't know because I wasn't there last week. It was still fun and a lot of choreo really fast. (Especially because I was trying to pick up some of the middle part too.) I wish I would have been there last week.

Oh - I must have walked in some dirt on the way there because my shoes were dirty. I am such a good example wearing my street shoes in the studio. When I realized the dirt was coming from my feet I swept it away and took off my shoes. I danced in my socks.

Monday Run 6 Km, 32:35 Mins

I got up and ran before swimming today. I plan on doing this every Monday and Wednesday. I left around 9:20 and was back in time to have a quick shower and go. We were a little late for swimming so I should leave at 9:10 on Wednesday.

I had a nice run and I ran pretty quick. I ran down Pacific to the Burrard bridge and back over the Cambie bridge.

I have so much to write when I am running and I get home and I don't get the chance to write down my thoughts. But he is worth it. At least I got to run!

Saturday Run 12 Km, 1:09 Mins w/ Carrie!

Today was awesome because it was so sunny and Carrie came to run with me. We ran 10 mins and walked for 1 minute and it was awesome. We walked from my place (She walked from hers!!) to Coal Harbour and then started the C wall. We ran 12km and took the light house short cut and ended at the park under the bridge and walked back to my place. Then we showered and met the boys at Chronic Taco for some FOOD!!

Blister update: I taped my feet before I left. The tape worked but it was tape that I had bought in Bali three or four years ago. When I took it off it pulled the new layer of skin off and the tape glue stayed on my foot. Gross! So, I through out that tape and I will buy fresh Canadian tape before my next long run on Saturday.

Friday Run 6.2 Km, 34:11 Mins

This morning it is sunny! We slept in a little longer and took our time because we didn't have to rush to swimming. I ran two loops around instead of just the one. You can see the big dip where I walked up the stairs. I definitely ran faster the first loop - maybe too fast! I was zooming and passing but by the second loop I was dragging my ass. The sun solar powered me.

The boys had a gaggle of boot camp moms working out in the skate area. Jonny doesn't like that. They should move out of the skate area. Anywho.. gotta eat!

Thursday 6:15-7:45 Bikram - Christine P

nap time before yoges
I love this teacher. She is so cute and awesome.

Anywho - this was my first class back in nine days, since I pulled my stitch doing the sit ups. I didn't do any of the sit ups. I could still feel my scar and where I hurt it so I tried to take it easy. Also, I am still full up top so I didn't do the front savasanas. Same 'ol. Soon, I will be back in action but I gots to take it slow! I don't want to hurt myself again so that I can't do anything. I don't want to take any more breaks.  I might get bored and drink again... and need a babysitter!! (wink, wink)

This class was super full and super hot. I was dripping and dizzy. I had to sit down and breathe. I wasn't the only one. It was HOT! I haven't had a class like this in a while. I felt bad for the new students. I wouldn't have wanted that to be my first class. I might not have come back! haha.

My beautiful husband bought two Powerades yesterday and left one in the fridge for me and it is the most delicious thing right now after all that sweating. Thank-you my love!!

Wednesday Run 3 km, 16:38 Mins - Jonny!

Today was the first of the half marathon training sessions. It starts really easy and I plan on running longer on these easy days just because this hardly seems worth it but today I wanted to check on the boys. We all walked down to Pit Spot. (Baby spot is being turned into two towers!) I ran a loop around Science World and back over the Cambie Bridge. Then we all walked back home and got ready for swimming. It was an awesome family morning.
