Saturday 11:30 - 1 Contemporary Jazz - Julio - w/ Twigg

I had planned to go to the Bikram Master Core class that is only at noon on Saturdays and only free for August. They are planning on adding another time and you have to pay $5 extra to take it. It would have been great to have taken it to know if it is worth paying $5 but dancing with Twigg was way more fun. It is rare that my dance teacher friends make it out to dance with me so I gotta take advantage of that time. Class is so much more fun when you have a friend there. I feel lucky that I have a friend like Twigg to dance with.

Anywho - class was awesome. We did an old song that I can't remember the name of but it was pleasant and dramatic. The warm-up was sweaty and good. Across the floor we did one turn and one jump. I like the jump - it was jetes that changed direction - side other side, then no prep front back to side and then prep and second jump. I will use that one in class. The choreo was awesome and flowy with sharp parts. It had a cool flexed foot jump at the end. Anywho - Awesome class! I am excited for school!

Friday 1:30 - 2:30 Hip Hop - Carlos - w/ TWIGG!!

Twigg came out and danced today. The class was fun and well taught. The maturity level of some of the students was annoying - but whatever. It was ok cause I had Twigg with me. It would have been annoying if I was the only adult in the class. Get some self-respect little girl and quit air humping the ground and dancing dirty!

Twigg looked awesome. It was so much more fun dancing with a buddy. I wish she could come and dance with me all the time. Her baby belly is cute. So exciting! I passed on the breast pump and the baby bath.

Wednesday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Mari

I hope one day I will be able to do Mari's class and feel like I did well. I tried to hold on but i missed one set of triangle and from then on put in an effort for each pose but not for the whole time. It was hot. It was uncomfortable. I felt like a loser.

Tuesday 5:30 - 6:30 Street Jazz - Moe in for Jo!

There were a lot of Harbour teachers in class today. Moe was having fun teaching SJ. She dressed up.. and I think she had some Jazz people in there dressed like her too.

She taught a long choreo but it was really dancey and had some parts that repeated.

Tuesday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Tanya is 7 months pregnant!!

Christine, Michelle, Tanya - My favourites!!
So, I haven't been to Bikram in about a month - three weeks at least. Tanya is one of my favourite teachers and has been since I started Bikram eight years ago. I took her class before I left and did not even notice that she was pregnant. Today, she walked in and she is gorgeous and all popped out. Wow, I am so excited and happy that she has love and has this new, amazing baby on the way. She is having a girl. Love it!

I had a great class today. I think it was great to have a break. I anticipated having a bad class but the break did me good. It was the best 6am class I have done in a long time. I didn't miss anything or lose my breath. I tried hard the whole time. Hopefully, I can keep this going on as I plan to do a lot of 6am's going back to school.

YAY!! Tanya is having a baby in November just like I did!! So COOL! I am going to bring her the bag of baby clothes to go though and pick stuff out that might work for a girl.

Thursday 7 - 8:30pm Jazz 40 + Edge Performing Arts Center Los Angeles - Bill Prudich (Jenna Elfman)

So, I went to a jazz class at Edge Performing Arts Centre in Hollywood on my last night in LA. I kinda chickened out and went to the 40 + class instead of going to a normal class. I thought it would be less intimidating and I wouldn't over exert myself. I also bribed myself with Edge sweat pants if I went. (Which I didn't end up getting because the Harbour ones are way nicer!)

The phone told me it would take thirty-six minutes to get there when I checked the night before. So, I decided I would leave an hour before so I would have plenty of time to register and all that. (pick out sweat pants and take a gander) I checked the phone again around 5:50 .. I was planning on leaving at six.. and now it told me it was going to take forty-five minutes. Yikes! I better get going. I snap shotted the quickest route and away I went. Well, I forgot my ears at the car and had to go back inside to get my ears. I wanted to hear the music and the teacher.

Anywho - obviously LA driving (The MAIN reason I would never live here) took much longer than the phone told me. There was some construction on Venice Blvd and we all had to merge into one lane. This took an extra fifteen minutes. I continued on and told myself that Harbour classes started later.. but then remembered a teacher from LA complaining about that about Harbour... then thought.. oh no! Then I thought, I would just keep on and walk in late and say sorry.. or if too late see if there was another class I could take. I made it about five minutes late. I walked in and put on my LA Stance socks. (Jonny got me new dancing socks since I left mine at home.) I took a place back left and just rolled with it.

I was relieved right away. The class was forty plus. We did some plies and tendus. We sat down and did stretching on the floor. There were no sit-ups or push-ups. We did ATF ... a lot of them.. but really simple and jazzy... old jazzy. We did one jump ... big skips. Cool... no hurting myself in this class! The last half hour we did a jazzy choreo. It wasn't too long and he taught it really slow. We split into groups and we did the dance about four times each, one more time all together and then it was time to go.

I really enjoyed Bill's teaching style. He gave corrections and had silly analogies to go along with choreo.. like come over to my house... no, I changed my mind... turn.. ball change. When you are turning your arms should hold a large pumpkin. When you are doing piques don't cut under yourself... go where your foot is reaching to. Those were some of the things he said to the class.

AND... Jenna Elfman was in our dance class. Her two kids were outside the studio and then she invited the in to sit in the corner. She would dance and make funny faces over to them but without distracting the class too much. She is just as beautiful in real life as she is on TV. I didn't really talk to her. I definitely had one peeper on her the whole time thought.. cause... it is Dharma!

Anywho.. great end to a great vacation. We head to Santa Cruz.. which is home direction.. tomorrow morning! It will be awesome to see everyone and get back into school routine.

jonny loves to lay out my dance clothes.

Wednesday Run 3.2 Mi, 30:04 Mins

It is still in miles. I changed it to kilometres on the runpod. It must see that I am in the US and change it when I download from the pod. Anywho... just over 5km. I ran the beach again but this morning there was no morning fog and smog. It was blue and sunny. The waves were small but there were still people out there getting their pre-work surf in. There were lots of birds and there was the tractor combing the beach. No lifeguards yet. The pier still looks like the best place to surf. Met the boys at the skate park. Tomorrow morning we are going to get up early and skate! We went to Huntington Beach today for a surf.. (and so Jonny could buy shoes.. he is obsessed!) I think he might finally be shoe happy! It was a busy fun morning and a great beach run to start the day.

Tuesday Run 3.5 Mi, 32 Mins

I forgot to change it back to km. I hate it in miles!

Anywho... The boy and Jonny walked to get a coffee and I carried on to the beach where I ran down to the edge of the water and along it passed the pier and then back to the skate park where the boys were almost at.

The waves were small but they were best at the pier. I will go and surf there Thursday. I surfed Huntington beach today (small) and I will do one last Zuma tomorrow morning. Our new place is AWESOME.. and it is so hard to leave. Life is amazing... I am so lucky.

Saturday Run 3.5 mi. 31:53 Mins

My Ipod is stuck on miles?? I gotta figure it out and change it.. must have done an update or something.. or maybe it knows I am in the US? Weird. I just don't have time to do it right now.

My run was awesome. (Regardless of the lack of sleep.. ugh!! Please get back to normal today boy!) I got a bit turned around somehow when I left the alley and went the wrong way to the beach. I blame the morning cloud cover or grey that just blends everything together. The ocean looks like it could be any direction. Anywho, the numbers on the street signs set me straight and I finally got to the beach. I ran through the sand - ugh! - down to the water. I ran along the water past the man made break where the surfers are and to the second one where we usually park and back.

I have more to say about it.. but I am starved and have to finish reading my book before 11am and the library somehow deletes it from my reader... and I have to do this all right now while the boy is napping!

Thursday Run

I finally went for a run. It was only 18 minutes long but it felt good. I ran from the Super 8 to the end of the Santa Cruz pier and back. I saw sea lions and a pod of Dolphins jumping through the water. Pigeons and sea gulls flew out of my way or the more cocky ones didn't. People were out fishing. Mini - lifeguard competitions were set up and awaiting the arrival of a beach full of kids. But, the ocean was and is flatter than Vancouver. There wasn't even a Barbie wave. It seems to be my curse of late.

Thursday 6 - 7:30am Bikram Cambie - Mari

Missed:
-one side each of triangle
-floor bow - the whole thing!
Excuses:
- heat
- left hammy is hurting a bit - must have strained the tender, healing muscle during dance on Monday.

Does Mari = bad class for P? I was dying again today. I wanted to leave so bad. I was dying through the spine strengthening. I imagined leaving. I used my face cloth as a fan. It was not fun. BUT.. I did it and I only have one class left - which is not being taught by Mari - on Saturday... maybe! THEN SURF AND RUN! Yoga break!
